Personal Notes Series 017 : The Empire of Hopes and Dreams

There are two kinds of Mentorships.

One is Transactional - where the mentor aims to transfer his knowledge and wisdom of a specific craft, to his mentee.

The other one is Relational - where the mentor not only shares his knowledge and wisdom but his life - his principles and the things he stands for.

-------------------------------------

Two days before the RiftMNL, I was able to have lunch with COL's founder Sir Edward Lee. We discussed many good things - it is always a privilege to learn and work with people who have abundant years of wisdom.

I was able to share our goals in ZFT and some of the struggles we face. What happened next was something I will never forget.

"Loyalty? Wala yan!" He said. "You have to accept that. People leave." He then began to share that in the beginning when he was building the Empire that we know now, people left him. "Ang galing mo kasi magturo kaya iniiwan ka."

This made me reflect on myself and how I deal with people in our tribe. At that moment I realized I didn't want to have someone say to me "Ang bait mo kasi kaya iniiwan ka."

That meeting gave me a sense of urgency.

-------------------------------------

I would like to describe ZFT as the Free-folk in Game of Thrones.

"The name they employ makes reference to their society, which recognizes no inherent or hereditary political authority, except for leaders whom they choose to follow."

I never liked the idea of a leader imposing his will on his people or sending them to their deaths for the common good. I wanted to be a good example that people would choose to follow.

Many people admire us in the Tribe for our achievements, culture and our community (click here if you want to read the comments), But as I created the same survey for our people, I found out the true nature of our state.

We still have a lot of improvements to make.

-------------------------------------

At the beginning of the 2nd half of this year, we have already become a Corporation. If we are to do good and reach out to more people, we have to do things right. We were just waiting for the right time to announce it.

Setting up the corporation is just for formality and structure.

It might trigger certain PTSD linking corporations to profit-oriented money hungry capitalism, but we assure you that is not the case. We understand that even if we do good-- but without due process-- we still aren't doing what is right. We cannot be leaders and role models on one hand while breaking local and/or international laws on the other.

We need to surrender to the process. No dream comes free without a price tag. Even at the cause of altruism.

Can you imagine that all this time, every event we do within and outside ZFT has been a labor of love? Even the mentoring! It's a miracle how people would volunteer without pay to do things in the Tribe. Of course, we understand that this isn't sustainable in the long run and we are doing our best to reward those who bring value to our family.

During the RiftMNL, we have publicly announced our vision as a company - That is to become the best mentoring community the Philippines has ever seen.

Of course, a vision without action is pointless.

So we have set the foundations of what ZFT stands for.

ZFT isn't just about me or the people within.

It is a symbol of a culture, a way of life, and of hopes and dreams

If ordinary people like us were able to make it in the markets, then so can you.

We are building an Empire.

Join us!
To God be the Glory.

  7. That's the characteristic of a great leader.. when his mentee became better than himself and he is not bothered about it, in fact he is proud of the achievements of the person he mentored! Afterall, thats what true mentoring all about.. Your standard is not of this world, and you know what I mean bro Zee... there is no perfect organization in this world! What matters the most is its thirst for improvement and excellence... long live the Tribe!!!

  8. sir the tribe has changed my life to become a better human being, you are truly an inspiration. Also as a trader I have changed a lot dahil sa blog mo boss(kahit hindi pa makita sa portfolio hehe). Free mentorship through the blog. Kaya lagi ko sinasabi sa sarili ko, I will become part of the tribe because it would be an honor to be taught by the best (anyone from the tribe) and also I believe the tribe's core values are aligned with mine. Can't wait to apply for the next Project SEED. -jinggoy

  11. I'm proud to be a tribe member! Proud to be part of this start-up organization, definitely, there are lots of areas of improvement but I greatly appreciate the efforts that are being put forth by our senior mentors sir ZF, sir Henry, sir Mesino, sir Date, sir Hanzo, sir Sirius, & ma'am Nina.

ZFT is not perfect (yet) but the willingness of everyone to help pull the traders up even after the formal course is the embodiment of true care and passion.

as for AnonymousSeptember 19, 2018 at 4:33 PM, kaya po siguro hindi nag iimprove sa trading kasi may ganyan pa rin talagang mindset yung pinag aaway at puro assumptions ng control yung sinasabi. It is so sad to read about this considering the help that your mentors gave you. I guess this is your avenue to change the true narrative. yung issue mo sa pag alis ni kapitan kidlat was resolved months ago na at may pa 'jugular' 'jugular' ka pang nalalaman eh he is creating his own brand. I wish for all success sa mga may ZFT blood.

  12. Way to go ZFT! I've been a follower since 2013, nababasa ko mga hate and bash comments before like si tita ninny at yung ibang anonymous din nag popost. Meron nanaman on this post na, trying to tear up a great tandem that went separate ways. I believe 5 years from now those issues that you have will just be a tiny speck sa organization nyo. Keep inspiring the trading community! - Love H

  14. Hi Sir. Just want to ask what is wrong with profit-oriented money hungry capitalism?? I do believe that 90% of people being drawn to your group is not because you've been helping the unfortunate or just wanted to learn how you guys trade but of course to make really big profit their trades and satisfy their hunger for money? I saw a number of comments from that fb link and people are quite aware that doing the good deed so one could enter your group are doing it because its a requirement not because they want to showcase how good natured they are. It was also mentioned that even if an applicant is not selected at least they have done good deeds for others. Such idea did not truly resonate specially to those who were not selected. Of course if they are selected its quite easy to show the zeefreak tribe that they really enjoyed helping others. In my opinion its aint that bad to include in your banner that money and consistent earning is one of the main point in your organization where people not only learn but satisfies their love for money. I think even you will agree it aint that bad for the zeefreak tribe to be somewhat akin to Ray Dalio and Bridgewater Associates on a Philippine trading landscape.

    1. What I mean by that statement are entities that would sacrifice their people for their love of money.
There's nothing wrong with wanting to have (more) money. Money is neutral. And it is a Magnifier of its Users. If you are a force for good and have a lot of money, GREAT!

      My Personal Belief :
Money is not evil. But the love of money is. Again, This is a personal belief. Everyone has their own.

As for the process in SEED and getting into ZFT. We have our ways. Just like any organization has its ways. We have to accept that we cannot accept everyone nor can we please everyone and that we should just focus on the things we can control.

  17. AnonymousSeptember 19, 2018 at 4:33 PM Anong pinaglalaban mo? It's just really sad that there are people like you. Your opinion is nothing and they are full of sh*t. It's not even progressive, hindi mo nga masasabing constructive criticism eh. So if i were you just shut the hell up if you have nothing good to say about the people and the community. And yeah just watch and learn from the sideline.

  18. Good luck Boss Zee! Are you changing the way people can currently apply through Project Seed? Or you intend to continue same method?

  19. Hi Sir Zee Freaks, i have finally finished reading, taking notes and digesting your whole blog (2011-2018) for 12 days straight and i would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to all the learning, wisdom, and life lessons you have unselfishly imparted with your blog. I'm just a newbie trader. Though i may already have my fair share of "life", learning and mastering a new craft is a welcome challenge for me. Your blog has been a very good journey for you and to me, as well. Again, i am grateful for all.

As for the Seed Project, maybe its not for me as time commitment from afar is not an option for me. But i do RAK when the opportunity arises from everyday life. It has been my way of paying it back to the miracles God sends me along my journey. But who knows, maybe God will find a way.

To you & Celeste, i wish for both of you love & happiness. A word of advice: NONE. The wise don't need it and the fool wont heed it.

To the ZFT, more power to the group and may you help more people. I may not be officially in the tribe, but act as one.

To you Zee, may the Good Lord continue to bless you with His finest gifts and blessings.
